With a little help from our friend Beatfanatic "Dressed In Yellow And Blue" has undergone a special treatment for this years Euro 2008 soccer tournament. It's a huge event in most parts of the world, billions of TV viewers, and is considered more dificult to qualify to and win than the world cup because there are only really good teams involved.
I wrote the first version of the song back in 2002 an hour after Sweden had been denied a win by Senegal in that years World Cup in Japan/Korea. I was very disappointed and couldn't wait until the next time our team had a chance to prove themselves. That first version was, of course, very sad. Three years later preparing for the A Real Life Drama album I decided to pick up the song, rearrange it and change the lyrics so it would be more positive. Still it was a very melancholy song. The intention was not to make it a Soccer anthem. It was just another real life drama autobiographical story in harmony with the title of the album. I guess the lyrics is about ordinary soccer fans who sit at home wathing the games on TV and how football/soccer affects domestic life for a short period of time in the middle of summer. It's an anthem for the common people who can't afford the trip to the arenas. It's in English so that more people can understand what's going on in Swedish homes around these events. It could probably be a song from any country taking part in the tournament. Nevertheless it turned out pretty catchy and we included it on the album as track three. Thanks to our friends at Skipping Stones "Dressed In Yellow And Blue" started to live a life on its own and ended up being the best Swedish World Cup song for many notable journalists and .....popfans in Sweden and elswhere.
For this year's Euro 2008 we decided to make a different version of the song. It's practically an entirely new track - A disco-popsong.

Who knows, if Sweden qualify for the next World Cup in 2010 there might be a new version or we'll just remake it for another team? That would be the fourth version of "Dressed In Yellow And Blue".

Enjoy it while you can!
It might be included as a bonus track on the forthcoming Charade album "Keeping Up Appearances" in September.
